The Dallas Cowboys are working to hire Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator Christian Parker to be their new defensive coordinator. The news was reported by NFL Network on Thursday.
Dallas has been searching for a new defensive coordinator for several weeks and is among the first teams with openings at the coordinator level to make a decision and go for it. They believe that Christian Parker is their man and they act with conviction. You have to respect that.

In fact, Parker has worked with Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, one of the most respected defensive minds in the NFL right now. If he brings even a fraction of what the Eagles have done on that side of the ball to the Cowboys, then everything will work out just fine.
It’s a big departure from the norm for the Cowboys to sign someone as young as Parker, being only 34 years old. We all know not to overreact by saying things like suddenly everything is different, but this is at least an adventure down an uncharted path that is nice to see.
How do you feel about the hiring?
