Sure, there are still a few months plus a full SEC schedule left between now and March Madness, but the Orange and Blue can’t get too low. Three of those losses came at the hands of teams in the top five in the rankings and all on neutral or visiting courts.

Last week, Todd Golden’s gang fell to the UConn Huskies in New York City before handing a surprisingly strong George Washington Revolutionaries team a loss on neutral ground. It makes sense, then, that Florida remained unmoved in ESPN’s latest bracketology update, maintaining the No. 5 spot in the Midwest region.
Top seeds in ESPN’s 2026 bracketology update
There was no movement among the top seeds this week, as the Michigan Wolverines maintained their hold on the top seed overall, as well as the number one spot in the Midwest. Meanwhile, the Duke Blue Devils (East), Arizona Wildcats (West) and Iowa State Cyclones (South) are also unfazed.

The Southeastern Conference added one school to its total this week with the return of the LSU Tigers to contention, who rose from the first group of four eliminated to the last four bye category with a No. 10 seed in the Midwest Region.

Otherwise, the SEC headliners this time around are still the No. 3-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide and Vanderbilt Commodores, but they switched regions to the East and Midwest, respectively. Behind them are the Arkansas Razorbacks in the West at No. 4, Florida at No. 5 in the Midwest, and the Tennessee Volunteers and Auburn Tigers at No. 6 in the South and West, respectively.
The rest of the standings include the Georgia Bulldogs (No. 7, West), Kentucky Wildcats (No. 9, South) and the aforementioned Tigers (No. 10, Midwest). The Oklahoma Sooners reside with the first four teams eliminated.
