Ford is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles due to a seat belt problem that could lead to injury in the event of a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a report on Tuesday that the recall includes some 2018 through 2022 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles.
The problem relates to seat belts that may be inadvertently locked, not allowing them to retract or extend. The NHTSA report says that a seat belt that does not retract or extend could result in injury in the event of a crash. Individuals may also be injured in some cases if the seat belt retracts quickly.
The recall replaces and expands on two previous NHTSA recalls. The report indicates that Ford Motor Co. We are aware of two warranty claims and two field reports related to the recent recall. The company is also aware of one infection.
Vehicle owners will receive notice in the mail about the recall. They can take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have both the front seat belt retractors inspected and the retractors involved in the recall replaced for free.
