Former super middleweight champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez will return to the “sweet science” for a “big fight” against an opponent who will be named at the top of the “Mexico Contra el Mundo” event on September 12 in Riyadh.
“September 12, a big, big fight,” said Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and owner of The Ring.

Let’s hope it’s not against Jake Paul.
“And this will be the first card for Canelo Promotions,” Alalshikh added. “It will be called ‘Mexico Against the World’. All the fighters on Canelo’s team against the world. And (Álvarez) in the main event (for) a world title, and it will be a surprise in Saudi Arabia, in sha Allah.”
Canelo, now 35, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Terence Crawford last fall in Las Vegas, just the third time Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) tasted defeat in his hall of fame career.
Crawford recently retired from boxing, vacating the WBC, IBF and WBO super middleweight titles and voiding Canelo’s contractual rematch clause.
