Jacobs was awarded a contract by Hut 8, an energy infrastructure company, to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for a new artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Texas, US.
The deal follows Jacobs’ existing EPCM role at Hut 8’s River Bend campus in Louisiana.
The new site, known as Beacon Point, is located in Nueces County and is structured for delivery in multiple phases, with the goal of providing up to one gigawatt of total capacity.
Under the contract, Jacobs will incorporate established design approaches from the Louisiana campus and use digital twin technology to simulate and manage the facility’s critical systems.
This approach aims to support the early go-live process and increase operational readiness for AI workload deployment.
Initial operations and commissioning of the Texas data center are planned to begin in 2027.
Hut 8 has secured an interconnection agreement covering the entire campus utility capacity, with the ability to expand facilities as requirements for high-performance computing services grow.
Jacobs’ continued involvement in Hut 8 reflects the company’s broader involvement in delivering infrastructure projects for technology providers involved in data centers, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing.
Jacobs President and CEO Bob Pragada said: “This follow-up award underscores Hut 8’s confidence in Jacobs’ ability to deliver complex AI infrastructure with speed, security and certainty.
“By combining our leadership in EPCM with advanced digital twin technology, we are setting the benchmark for AI infrastructure deployment, optimization and resiliency.”
At the Louisiana River Bend campus, Jacobs oversees an EPCM contract for a 15+ year leased facility featuring 245 MW of IT capacity as part of a larger planned development.
The first phase of the River Bend project is expected to be completed and ready for use in the first quarter of 2027, with subsequent expansions expected later in the year.
Jacobs offers a range of services in sectors such as energy, transportation and life sciences and reports annual revenues of around $12 billion with a workforce of approximately 47,000 people.
Last month, the Illinois Department of Transportation selected Jacobs to execute two projects aimed at improving the I-290 Eisenhower Expressway corridor, a major route in the Chicago area transportation system.
