Seoul (Reuters) -the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, said Pyongyang has assigned strategic assets to respond to the accumulation of US military forces in the south and promised to develop additional military measures, KCNA state media reported on Sunday.
“In direct proportion to the accumulation of US forces in Korea, our strategic interest in the region has also increased, and consequently we have assigned special assets to key objectives of interest,” Kim said in a military exhibition event before the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean Workers Party. “I think our enemies should worry about the direction of their security environment is evolving.”
He added that North Korea “will undoubtedly develop additional military measures” to prepare to respond to the accumulation of US forces, without elaborating more.

North Korea has been hardening military ties with Russia and has been supporting the war of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine by sending troops and artillery, according to South Korean officials.
Kim has also been deepening the alignment with China and recently traveled to Beijing to attend a military parade that marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, along with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Putin.
