Lafayette Parish officials identify 3 victims in plane crash

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office has identified the victims of Tuesday morning’s plane crash..

According to LPSO, shortly after 11 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a small plane that lost altitude, flipped and then crashed in an open field.

When officers arrived, they confirmed that the plane, identified as a Beechcraft Baron, a twin-engine plane, had crashed. The three occupants on board were pronounced deceased at the scene.

After notifying the family, the deceased has been identified as:

  • Bruce Verduyn, 58, of The Woodlands, Texas

  • Lydia Laws, 46, of Spring, Texas

  • Justin Ramsey, 42, of The Woodlands, Texas

LPSO said they are currently securing the crash site and assisting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigators, who will lead the investigation.

This remains an active investigation. LPSO said the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing additional information at this time.
