Mark Sanchez arrest: Former quarterback booked into Marion County Jail in first appearance since stabbing

Mark Sánchez has already left the hospital. The former quarterback reported to the Marion County Jail on Sunday to have his fingerprints and mugshot taken. It was his first public appearance since he was arrested and charged with a felony and multiple misdemeanors in a stabbing incident.

Sanchez, who was stabbed in an altercation with a truck driver, appeared to be in pain as he cautiously entered the building. Sanchez had to present himself for fingerprints and a mugshot in order to leave Indianapolis, according to Fox 59’s Max Lewis.

Sanchez needed help removing his jacket and items from his pockets before going through the jail’s metal detector. When he took off his jacket, Sanchez’s right arm could be seen in a sling. Security footage of Sanchez after the altercation appeared to indicate he was stabbed in the right side.

Sánchez pleaded not guilty to the charges on Thursday. His next court date is set for November 4.

Shortly after Sanchez was seen in jail, his mugshot was released.

Sanchez was arrested in early October after getting into a fight with a 69-year-old grease truck driver. A police file stated that Sanchez told the man he couldn’t park his car in an alley. When the man tried to reach for his phone to confirm, Sanchez allegedly stopped him.

The incident became physical. The man, fearing for his life, sprayed Sanchez with pepper spray. The quarterback was able to shake off the spray and attacked the man. That’s when the man pulled out a knife and stabbed Sanchez several times.

Both men were hospitalized after the incident. The driver of the truck was released from the hospital, although he is reportedly seriously injured.

Sánchez, who had been working as an analyst at Fox, has not called games in the past two weeks because of the incident.
