Mondi is making operational changes at its corrugated packaging plants in Greven, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Ebersdorf, near Coburg, Bavaria, Germany.
The aim of the work is to increase the plant’s performance, align both facilities with the safety requirements of the entire Mondi group and support its long-term position for customers and staff.
The company said both locations have received manufacturing upgrades designed to improve production, consistency and reliability.
The changes cover modifications to current machinery and internal workflows.
At the Ebersdorf plant, continuing to advance palletless manufacturing remains an important part of the plan. The company stated that this aims to reduce handling steps, help maintain more stable product quality and support more efficient use of resources.
At Greven, a higher level of automation is being introduced to make operations more stable, reduce material losses and support product consistency.
Mondi has also created an on-site sales team at its facilities, stating that its goal is to “enable closer customer collaboration, faster response times and more customized packaging solutions.”
The group said safety arrangements at the Greven and Ebersdorf plants have been aligned with its global standards through workplace improvements and specific safety training.
Mondi Corrugated Solutions COO Paulus Goëss said: “Taken together, the upgrades in Greven and Ebersdorf strengthen our ability to deliver consistently high quality products, reliable delivery performance and more sustainable production processes for our customers. At the same time, they reinforce Mondi’s corrugated solutions presence in Germany and support long-term, reliable partnerships with our customers.”
Mondi took over the Greven and Ebersdorf plants after acquiring Schumacher Packaging’s assets in Western Europe, expanding its presence in Germany.
