Orange County Schools consider closures due to registration decrease

Orange County Public School officials are contemplating school closures due to the decrease in registration, since some schools work less than 40% capacity.

Melissa Byrd, a member of the School Board, said the District has begun initial conversations about the management of the problem of infra -infra -use schools.

These discussions imply the possible closure of some schools and school consolidations, but final decisions have not yet been made.

“Some schools now have a capacity of less than 40 percent,” said Melissa Byrd, a member of the School Board.

District officials stressed that discussions are still in their initial phase, which makes it premature to identify which schools could face closures or consolidations.

The decrease in district registration has led to the exploration of different strategies to optimize resources and guarantee high quality education for students.
