Plan to repair ‘dangerous’ balconies in the Apartment building in Atlanta in the future
The plan to fix balconies that could crumble on a busy street in Atlanta began on Wednesday.
“It’s a great danger,” Tylaa Young.
Young said walking under the balconies almost every day. They are connected to a high height apartment and a condominium complex called 788 West Midtown.
McKinley Homes possesses it and said that the construction of Batson-Cook was in charge of the construction of the balconies.
Less than five years later, management sent a letter to residents who said a balcony piece on the 13th floor.
McKinley Homes hired an inspector who said that 220 balconies have problems such as cracks, deep holes and exposed reinforcement bars.

The inspector wrote in his report that he should not have leapped or rely on the railing. He said that 42 of the balconies are so dangerous that no one should be in them or under them.
McKinley Homes managers provided Courtney Francisco de Channel 2 With an eight-step plan, Batson-Cook prepared to solve problems. He started Wednesday with a balcony and verifications scan team.
After that, there are six steps for repair, such as adding bars, filling the chipped concrete and waterproofing.
Neighbors as Prince Miller asked: “Are you not supposed to verify those things before, such as building the infrastructure?”
Atlanta does not inspect the balconies in buildings, according to the city planning department. A spokesman said that the city allows general contractors to hire private companies to carry out inspections. The city said it does not maintain or verify the results.
“That seems potentially harmful,” said Miller.
The third -party inspector that appears in the records made by the city of Atlanta is called Atlas Technical Consultants.
Channel 2 has sent an email to Atlas and Batson-Cook to see the results of the initial inspection. None of the teams have responded.
The McKinley Homes team said they will soon add a network around the building to prevent anything from falling on someone underneath. A date for installation has not yet been established.
