Manhattan – Qua Moss’s last name could not be more appropriate.
At the end of the last quarter, when UCF was behind two TouchDowns, the Knights Campo Marshal, Tayven Jackson, tried to push the ball through the field. He threw the 20 yards ball along the field along the lateral line to Duane Thomas Jr., who seemed to have the ball in his hands.
And then he got, well, “Mossed.”
Moss came flying, started the ball from Thomas’s hands, set foot in the limits and gave Kansas the status of the interception that ended the game in a 34-20 victory over UCF on Saturday, September 27 at the Bill Snyder family stadium.
“That was a ridiculous play,” said gunner Maldonado, who also had an interception. “I thought I was going to play in the ball, and then that occurred to him. He surprised me. That left the game.”
Moss’s interception was a reminiscence of those that the member of the Fame Hall of Football Randy Moss became popular, creating the verb “moss” that has become so common for the receptors when they hook the ball on the head of an opponent or tear it away from their arms.
Kansas State moss finished the game with two tacle and the interception, which sent a good part of the Wildcats lateral line to the field while running in celebration.
It is almost a certainty that the capture of Qua Moss will appear during the regressive NFL account on Sunday morning in ESPN, a segment that houses the Hall of Fame.
He simply does not expect the field marshal Avery Johnson to fight for Qua Moss to make a transition to the offensive, even with the Wildcats injury problems on the receiver.
“That was the craziest interception I’ve seen,” Johnson laughed. “But we are not going to pump the head of Qua. You still can’t play receiver. I will tell you that.”
