Shedeur Sanders stuns in his NFL debut: Internet explodes

It wasn’t a great Sunday for those hoping Shedeur Sanders fails in the NFL.

The brash rookie signal-caller made his first NFL start for the Browns on Sunday in a clash with the Las Vegas Raiders, and he was able to do something no other Browns rookie starting quarterback has done in the last 30 years: win his first game as a starter for the franchise. The Browns defeated the Raiders 24-10 on Sunday and Sanders completed 11 of 20 passes for 209 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the victory. Sanders voiced his opinion on those who doubted him after the victory.

“A lot of people want to see me fail and that’s not going to happen,” Sanders told reporters after the victory.

Of course, the NFL world has strong opinions about Sanders, and wherever he goes, a heated discourse about him as an athlete and quarterback always seems to follow. And it was no different Sunday after the Browns’ win, when the Internet was flooded with reactions when Shedeur won his debut start.

Many of his followers were happy to use the occasion as an “I told you so” moment, flaunting their success in front of anyone who had said a bad word about the former Colorado quarterback. Others were unhappy with how arrogant he seemed in his postgame quotes, while others worried that a win against the Raiders didn’t mean he’s the perfect guy for the job. Of course, others are convinced otherwise and are calling for him to start even when Dillon Gabriel returns from his injury. See how the internet reacted to the win below.
