Should the Boston Celtics? Will Jaylen Brown be a first-team All-NBA selection?

Jaylen Brown has enjoyed a professional year. In the absence of Jayson Tatum, who missed 62 games with a torn Achilles tendon, the explosive forward led the Boston Celtics to second place in the Eastern Conference. Impressively, he did this while leading a team that was not expected to be competitive this year, due to the moves Brad Stevens made during the offseason to begin a restructuring phase.

As the season progressed and Brown’s performances remained steady, talk of a potential MVP case began to gain speed. While Brown is unlikely to get that award, the fact that he is consistently in the top 5-8 names on the MVP ladder says a lot about the impact he has had on the Celtics’ season and their overall record. In 70 games, Brown is averaging 28.8 points, 7 rebounds and 5.2 assists, shooting 52.3% from two-point range and 34.4% from deep.

As such, Brown should be a lock for an All-NBA team this season, potentially as a First Team selection. During a recent episode of WEEI’s “Jones and Keefe” show, Justin Turpin joined Adam Jones and Richard Keefe to discuss Brown’s All-NBA case and whether he should be a first-team selection, despite the high level of competition for a spot.
