“Solidarity raises everyone, while the division crawls everything,” LI told the General Assembly, warning that unilateralism and protectionism undermined the international order built for decades.
Humanity, he said, “once again has come to a crossroads.”
Prime Minister Li recalled the defeat of fascism and the UN Foundation eight decades ago, saying that the lessons of history demanded a renewed commitment to peace, equity and justice.
“When I could dictate well, the worldwide risk division and regression,” he said, and urged all countries, “large or small, being treated as equals.”
China, Mr. Li emphasized, promised to be a “firm defender of world peace and security.”
He highlighted the contributions of Beijing to the Maintenance of the UN Peace, the second largest budget taxpayer and the largest taxpayer of the troops between the permanent members of the Security Council, and their role in promoting political solutions to conflicts, including Ukraine and the crisis of Israel-Palestine.
On the global economy, the Chinese leader said that slow growth was worsening for “tariff walks and construction of walls and barriers.” He pointed out the constant expansion of his country and the role as a promoter of global development, contributing approximately 30 percent of economic growth in recent years, and pointed out that the country had reduced tariffs, while the second largest importer in the world remained for 16 consecutive years.
Reject ‘civilizational superiority’
China would continue to pursue “highway cooperation and high quality belt” with more than 150 countries, he said, while opening his economy to the world.
Mr. Li also urged deeper exchanges between societies and warned against “civilization superiority or ideology -based circles,” which said he raised the confrontation.
As for global challenges, Mr. Li requested a stronger collective action on climate change and emerging technologies.
He said that China had built the world’s largest renewable energy system and advanced low carbon development. He also urged rapid progress in international artificial intelligence rules, reiterating Beijing’s call to a “World Cooperation Organization of AI”.
As part of its UN commitment, Prime Minister Li announced that China would present moon soil samples collected by its last robotic explorer on the other side of the moon, the first collected, before the United Nations.
He also said that China would be associated with the UN to establish a South-South Development Installation of China-UN South-South, with $ 10 million in initial funds and a global center for sustainable development in Shanghai in cooperation with the UN Development Program (UNDP).
“We must adhere to the principles of people focused on people, technology for the benefits of good and equitable,” Li said.
Concluding his speech, Mr. Li reaffirmed China’s support for reforms so that the UN is “more efficient and representative.”
