Pima County officials say efforts over the weekend to achieve one-way traffic flow on the road in front of Nancy Guthrie’s home did not work as well as they had hoped, leading to expanded parking restrictions.
The new restrictions go into effect on Thursday. Authorities say journalists and live broadcasters can still access the area, but they will have to park their cars elsewhere and get off in the neighborhood. Violators will face a $250 fine. The constant presence of news crews, bloggers and curious onlookers has drawn mixed reactions from neighbors. Some expressed appreciation for the attention the issue received. Others placed traffic cones and signs on their property to keep people away.
Authorities say tents, generators and satellite trucks set up along the road have caused congestion and safety concerns.
Nancy GuthrieShe, 84, was last seen at her home outside Tucson on Jan. 31 and was reported missing the next day.
