A woman died after a shooting on Wednesday night at I-64 in York County, according to a press release from the Virginia State Police.

Details about the shooting have almost not been published, but it happened near the 242 mile score in York County, police said. The state soldiers responded to the scene around 6 pm

According to the State Police, a SUV Honda Blue 2024 ran out of the road and hit a railing west of the 243 mile score, which is near Busch Gardens. The driver of the vehicle, an unidentified woman, was taken to the Riverside Regional Medical Center, where he died, police said.

Information about the shooting itself has not been published. When more information was requested, a police spokesman said the investigation was still “very active.”

All lanes east of the I-64 on the 242 mile score were closed for several hours for the investigation, police said. A traffic detour in Humelsine Parkway is advised and drivers are advised to seek alternative routes.

No other details were provided.

Police are asking for public help with information. Any person who has witnessed Honda SUV, or observed any interaction between this vehicle and another vehicle before the 243 mile score, is asked to communicate with the state police to questions@vsp.virginia.gov or that calls 804-750-8788.
