AKRON, OHIO — Two people were found dead inside a small plane Thursday after it crashed into a home in Ohio and caught fire, the Akron Fire Department said.
The department said in a press release that there were no immediate reports of injuries inside the home after the incident shortly before 4 p.m. The house and another house had to be evacuated.
The FAA said in an email that the plane was a Piper PA-28.
A video circulated on X appears to show a large plume of thick black smoke rising over a residential neighborhood after the incident. The plane itself is not visible in the footage, but flames can be seen at the base of the smoke as it rises into the sky above nearby homes.
