AAA expects 81.8 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home over the Thanksgiving holiday period between Tuesday, November 25, and Monday, December 1. That means 1.6 million more passengers than last Thanksgiving, which would be a new record.
AAA estimates that at least 73 million people will travel by car, accounting for about 90 percent of Thanksgiving travelers. AAA expects there will be about 1.3 million more people on the road this year than last year.
