West Palm Beach, Florida — A woman intentionally rammed her car into the front entrance of a federal courthouse in South Florida after office hours on Wednesday, causing about $200,000 in damage, authorities said Thursday.

Investigators determined that the 55-year-old woman drove her car to the Paul J. Rogers Federal Building and United States Courthouse in West Palm Beach around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, police said in a news release. Damage included the building’s front doors, security equipment and interior furniture. No injuries were reported.

Police said the woman fled the scene but was arrested a short time later. Investigators did not immediately say why the woman crashed her car into the building.

The woman was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief. She was being held on $5,000 bail. Prison records did not list a lawyer for her

“We take incidents of this type very seriously,” West Palm Beach Police Chief Tony Araujo said in a statement. “Acts of violence and destruction of property will not be tolerated and those responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
